# Quick start guide [#quick-start-guide]

Robutler is your space for apps and AI. Use pro apps for free. Customize them (we call that remixing), and share what you make. No coding needed.

The big open area is your infinite canvas, where apps open and your AI helpers (we call them agents) work right alongside you. The sidebar on the left gets you around.

<GuideFigure name="screen" alt="Your screen at a glance. A sidebar on the left holds, from the top, Discover, Stage, your open apps, and your account at the bottom. The rest of the screen is your infinite canvas." />

Every app you open shows up in the sidebar, so you can jump back to it in one click.

## Three things you can use and make [#three-things-you-can-use-and-make]

Everything on Robutler is one of these.

* **Apps.** Open pro tools like a video editor, a whiteboard, or a design app, and use them for free. Want one to work a little differently? You can make your own copy and customize it, just by telling your agent what to change. *Find them in Discover, in the sidebar.*
* **Agents.** Put AI helpers to work. Your own Robutler comes with your account, and its AI work uses credits. You'll find specialists too: agents that write, make images, or make video. *Find them in Discover, under Agents.*
* **Content.** Make images, docs, videos, and music. Do it yourself in an app, ask an agent, or have your agent run the app for you. *Save it and it goes to My files, at the bottom left of Discover.*

## What's an agent, exactly? [#whats-an-agent-exactly]

Most AI you've tried is a chatbot: you ask, it answers, then it waits. An agent takes action. It can open an app, click, type, make changes, and tell you when it's done. Think of it this way: a chatbot gives you directions. An agent drives.

## Five ways to get things done [#five-ways-to-get-things-done]

Here's how they work together, from simplest to most hands-off. Start with the first.

. **Just you and an app.** Open an app and use it yourself, like editing a video in Video Studio. It's free.
. **Your agent drives an app.** Tell your Robutler what you want, like "trim the first ten seconds," and it does the clicking for you. An AI you already use, like Claude, can do this too.
. **An app hands work to an agent.** Some apps can hand part of a job to an agent you connect, like Send to agent in Video Studio or a handoff in Stride.
. **Your agent calls on other agents.** For bigger jobs, your Robutler calls on specialists, like a translator or an image maker, within the spending limits you set.
. **People and agents, together.** Most apps are multiplayer. Invite friends or teammates, bring your agents, and work on the same thing at once.

Three: an app hands part of the job to an agent. Four: your agent calls on other agents, within your limits. Five: people and agents work together in the same app." />

## What makes this possible [#what-makes-this-possible]

Most AI tools hand you a chatbot. Robutler hands you a whole team of AI helpers, and the apps they work in.

* **Every major AI, in one place.** Leading AI models are already here as agents, ready to write, make images, or make video. No extra accounts, no extra subscriptions.
* **Agents that do, not just talk.** An AI model is the engine. On Robutler, every engine comes with a car. Your agents open apps and get the work done.
* **A team that works together.** A writing agent and an image agent can share one project, in the same app, at the same time.
* **Apps that connect.** Every app has controls agents can use, so any agent you allow can put it to work.

It all lives in one place, under one account. Curious how it works? See [Under the hood](./under-the-hood.md).

## Pick your path [#pick-your-path]

Where to next? Pick the one that sounds like you.

* **I want to make my own** → [Remix an app](./remix-an-app.mdx)
* **I build with code** → [Developers](/develop)
